Using the CommentLuv Plugin to Help Encourage Comments on your blog
When you first start writing to a New blog what you are looking for in addition to traffic to your posts, is to try to create a community of like minded and loyal readers that you can interact with.
One way you could go about this is by encouraging your readers to leave useful comments on the articles that you write. I have just found a great little wordpress plugin that could help with that.
The plugin is called CommentLuv and can be found here at FiddyP’s site.
What is so useful about this plugin you may ask.
When a reader leaves a comment on your blog they get a link back to the Site that they entered in the Website or URI field in your blog posts comment box. This is all well and good for your reader, especially if you use the Dofollow plugin on your blog, as this May help them to receive some extra page rank for their site. It could be better though, by making use of the CommentLuv plugin there is a new tickbox added to the comments section that says:
Enable CommentLuv which will try and get your last blog post, please be patient while it finds it for you.
What happens is that the CommentLuv Wordpress Plugin visits the feed of the comment author and then it attempts to scrape the last post they made and display it as an Extra Link under their comment.
This is much better for your reader as now they have an Extra Link pointing back to their site, and better for your blog as more poeple leave comments for you.
There is some more in depth information on the use of the plugin over at the plugins Homepage.
Go ahead and try it out below by leaving a comment to this article.
Talk to you soon.

It’s a nifty promotional tool for sure but it also increases the workload of the blogger in terms of filtering out junk comments. Most report a huge increase in both good and bad posts. I like it as I can follow good bloggers on good blogs without having to click to see if they’ve updated.

Interesting!
CommentLuv helps you reward your commentators by separating their name from their keywords in the link to their site. This gives them improved anchor text, which can help their site rank higher in the search engine results.
You can now leave a comment with your name as well as a keyword of your choice here and get a PR5 link back to your site! How cool is that? People pay big bucks for that and all you have to do is comment here.

I agree, it is a very useful plugin to help encourage users to leave some feedback. Plus it helps your fellow bloggers get a little more traffic which never hurts.

Other methods that can help to encourage comments include allowing DoFollow links (removing default nofollow attributes so that “link juice” is passed to the sites) and installing the KeywordLuv plugin, which significantly helps commenters with SEO because it allows them to choose the anchor text for links.
Overall, it is a good thing to encourage comments because the extra content provided by other people adds more keywords to your posts, which in turn brings in more traffic from the search engines without costing you any more time than it takes to write the original post.

Hi
I work with the creator of comment luv on another project, and Andy is a really nice guy, so it’s great to see such a great amount of support of his pluggin.
How do you manage with spam bots? My main blog is rammed by them at certain times and days, so on my main blog I have had to turn off comments until I can find away for me to stop them.
I still use it on all the rest of my blogs though.

Very nice plug-in. Every blog should have this installed and enabled by default; it would allow much better traffic exchange between websites! And the developer should definitely consider expanding the compatibility to other CMS.
